It is a known fact that women pay their husband's dowry in India, this particular 'issue' has led to the loss of part of a woman's nose.
Following her inability to meet up with the husband's demand of an expensive dowry, a 21-year-old Indian woman has lost part of her nose.
According to reports, the woman identified as Raj Kumari had married her 23-year-old husband Shiv Prasad about in 2014, but the pair eventually separated in 2015 following her husband's incessant demand of £1,800 (N685,000) and a brand new motorbike as dowry.
Kumari had moved into her parents' house in Lakhimpur following her separation, and her husband reportedly tried to bring her back without success. On Tuesday, November 1, while she was on her way to school, she didn't realise her husband was lying-in-wait for her. While she walked by, he ran towards her, grabbed her and bit off a part of her nose.

Prasad ran away soon after, while Kumari called for her family members who rushed her to a clinic where she was treated. Prasad was later arrested by the police, and when questioned as to why he attacked his wife, said he did that because she refused to come home and because of the way she dressed to school.
