A six-week-old baby has been left in a critical condition in Kimberley Hospital, Northern Cape, South Africa, after she was raped by a man.
Dailysun SA reports that medical result shows that the baby was raped on Monday, November 28, by a family member. The baby’s 22-year-old mum had left the sleeping baby in the bedroom but when she went back to check her, she didn't find her in the room.
“The mother ran to the house of family members nearby, and the gogo heard cries coming from a shack in the backyard, ” a relative told Dailysun.
The relative said when the woman forced open the door of the shack, the man who is 24 years old, pushed her out of the way and ran out.
Angry residents caught the suspect a few blocks from the house. They threatened to kill him but the woman stopped them. She claimed the man was mentally unstable. The baby was taken to the hospital afterwards.
