Sadly for Bahati, she lost four of the babies, with the fifth one a girl currently under special care to save her life.
Bahati said she failed to get medical attention in Taveta and had no choice but to cross over to Tanzania.
"My neighbours decided to bring me to Himo, where I eventually gave birth. I was, however, devastated to hear that four had died, but that is God's will," she said.
Neighbours contributed money for Bahati, as she was a poor single mother with ten other children at home, to enable her make the long journey to Tanzania.
According to doctors, they had expected Bahati to be pregnant with quadruplets, but were shocked when she delivered quintuplets.
"We immediately took her to the delivery room where she started to give birth in quick succession.
"Her first baby was a girl weighing 600 grammes, who survived. She then delivered three baby boys, who died shortly after they were born," a doctor is quoted.
According to the doctors, the mother is recuperating at the Tanzanian hospital.
