A 20-year-old housemaid, Loveth Emmanuel, has been arraigned before an Ebute-Meta Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing N700,000 from the safes of her boss, Rufus.
The Punch reports that Emmanuel used a stick of broom to open four safes and stole the money at their residence on Sholanke street in the Ebute-Meta area of Lagos state. The money was meant for her boss' children’s school fees. After the deed, she was said to have tried running away by jumping into a fast moving vehicle. But he was caught.
Describing Emmanuel as an ingrate who did not appreciate everything done for her, Rufus said he gave her the same privilege as his children since he came into their house about a year ago.

But the Cross-river state indigene claimed that her boss got her arrested because she wanted to sit for an examination, adding that it was when she was not given time for the exam that she decided to flee. She went on to say that the stolen money issue happened since July 2016, and she had been forgiven until she was arrested while going for the exam. She went further to say that since sh'e been staying with Rufus, she's not had any breathing space in the house.
She was, however, arraigned on two counts of stealing. And the case was adjourned till January 25, 2017.
