The body of a 4 month old baby boy has been found wrapped in a polythene bag inside a gutter in Calabar, Cross River state.
The baby was found on Tuesday, January 17, at Beebobsco bus stop, Murtala Mohammed highway.
An eyewitness, Eme Douglas who sells cement close to the area the baby was found, revealed that the baby was found inside a polythene bag when he resumed work on Tuesday morning. He also confirmed that the body wasn't there on Monday evening when they closed for work.
He said: "I saw the lifeless body of the baby boy this morning while sweeping our premises, although I did not see when the baby was dropped but I am certain it was in the early of today, I don’t even know who to contact, some security agents have been here but none of them picked the baby.”
According to Vanguard, a spokesman for the Basic Rights counsel Initiative, James Ibor, said they would make sure a proper investigation is carried out and the culprit would be arrested.

He said: “It is really sad and quite unfortunate that despite the volume of applications by different people at the ministry of Sustainable Development and Social Welfare for adoption of children that somebody could have the guts to commit such sacrilege."
