Nigerian Reverend, Uriroghene Okrokoto, has been attacked by a man identified as, Joseph Mattarelliano, at Avenue T and Ford street while he was walking on the street.

The reverend who ministers at the Good Shepherd Roman catholic church in Marine Park was allegedly attacked on Friday, January 13 around 3:45 a.m in the morning.

Joseph Mattarelliano followed the priest in an SUV, speeding up as he walked faster. As the reverend crossed a nearby street, Mattarelliano emerged from the SUV wielding a bat.

According to the police, Mattarelliano was shouting at the reverend and calling him names. He said: “Or your neighborhood in Flatbush where you came from. Otherwise I’m gonna split your head. What are you doing in my neighborhood? Did you make money? Leave this f—ing neighborhood, you f—ing n—er.”

Okrokoto who was not wearing clerical garb when the man approached him reported Mattarelliano to the police after he sped off in his SUV.

Mattarelliano surrendered on Friday, January 20, at the 61st precinct station house and was charged with weapon possession and menacing as a hate crime.
