Neighbour rescues two children as they jump into his hands during house fire (photos, video)

A 46-year-old man in Manchester, UK, recently rescued two of his neighbor's children from a burning house by catching them with his hands as they jumped from a window to escape the raging fire.

Robert Chilowa, who is originally from Zimbabwe, says he heard screams coming from his neighbor's house and rushed barefoot with only his pajamas on to investigate.

He found one of the neighbor's daughter's outside the burning house and she told him that her two younger siblings were trapped inside. He urged the children, who were backing away from the fire and leaning against the window, to jump into his arms.

The children sustained slight injuries from the fire and are receiving treatment at a Manchester hospital. Sadly, however, they have been left orphans as their parents perished in the fire.

Police, firefighters and the affected family thanked the timely intervention of Robert, without which the situation could have been more tragic.
