Her husband, Francis Ivo, explained her predicament and said the illness started in the middle of 2016, when she developed malaria and fever. He said: “I took her to the hospital in which after several tests they discovered that her PCV was only 20 per cent and they suggested I took her to General Hospital for further clarification.”

At the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, they discovered her blood pressure was high. From there we went to Gbagada General Hospital where we were referred to Lagos Island General Hospital where my wife was diagnosed with kidney failure and recommended urgent dialysis.”

I started crying, it is God in heaven that has been sustaining us. She does dialysis three times every week and I don’t have such money. My wife is from Rivers State and we have two children aged 13 and nine. “We have been living in fear, because if she does not dialyse at the appropriate time she would be breathless. Last Sunday, she almost died before they resuscitated her. “

One of the 36-year-old’s doctors, Alagbe S.C, revealed that she undergoes medical treatment and haemodialysis 2 to 3 times weekly. He also said she would continue to until she gets the transplant.

He further said that she needs N75,000 on weekly basis to care for herself. He said: “However on a weekly basis she needs N75,000 to for maintenance dialysis and approximately N80,000 monthly for her medicine while a renal transplant ranges will cost about N10 million.“
