The world’s most obese woman until now, who will be undergoing a life-saving operation in a few weeks, is now managing to lose about six kilos per day, with the liquid diet her doctor has put her on.
36-year old Eman Ahmed Abd El Aty, was flown from her native Egypt to India in order to receive special bypass surgery that will help her lose almost 200 kilos, of the 495 kilos she weighed before her trip.
Abd El Aty, who never left her home for 25 years before going to India, was lifted by a crane in order to get into a specially modified airplane, and which also to helped her arrive at the hospital.
Doctors have her on a 1,200-calorie liquid diet, which needs to have for about a month in order to be ready for her operation. She has already lost some 30 kilos in the five days she has been in India.

Abd El Aty was diagnosed with elephantiasis as a child. She had a stroke, which left her bedridden, and also developed diabetes, high blood pressure, hypertension and sleep apnea over the years.
Her surgeon, Dr Muffazal Lakdawala, said they “need to get her in shape for the surgery.” She is also having physiotherapy sessions twice a day.
