A nursing mother, Habiba Inusa, who concealed her pregnancy before her wedding has been remanded to a Kano state sharia court custody with her 7 days old baby.
Inusa who tied the knot alongside 1520 couples in a mass wedding organized by the state government last week allegedly gave birth a day after the celebration.
The director general of Kano Hisbah Board, Abba Sifu, confirmed the accusations saying that Inusa is currently under the custody of the court.
He revealed that the woman has been charged with adultery and deliberate concealment of pregnancy.
Sufi disclosed that the government confiscated items given to her as gifts for the mass wedding exercise.

He said: “Habiba had confessed to the court that she was pregnant months before the mass wedding exercise, and that she offered her younger sister’s urine to escape pregnancy screening exercise.” “She told the court that she went to the venue of the screen with her sister’s urine which she concealed in her stomach and when it was her turn for the test, she presented her sister’s urine in place of hers.”
He also disclosed that the woman had revealed that the baby was not for her husband but for man simply identified as, Kamalu.
