Ogun state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, on Wednesday, March 22, showed Nigerian men exactly how they should treat their wives.
The Nigerian governor who attended the Women Arise rally against gender-based violence with his wife, Funsho, told everyone present at the Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, where they converged, that it is now a criminal offence for any man to beat a woman.
After addressing the people, Governor Amosun acknowledged cheers from the teeming fans and people of the state who had come around to show solidarity, and drove his wife off with his entourage coming directly behind him.
There have been many cases of domestic violence in Nigeria over the past years; as a result of this, the well respected governor of the state decided to reach out to the public on the need to protect their spouses and not abuse them.
The Women Arise rally was another opportunity for the governor to reach out to people in his state after the celebration of the women's day that was done on March 8.
Men in the state would face the wrath of law if they ever beat up a woman since Governor Amosun has declared how serious it is to beat up a woman. In order to drive this point home, the Ogun state governor drove his wife off.
