Family of Air force woman killed demands justice (photos)

Following the death of Solape Oladipupo, an Airforce officer that was killed by her jealous lover and colleague, the family members of the deceased are clamoring for justice to be done.

The life and destiny of the 21-year-old lady who was said to have been shot by B.A Kalu, her lover, in a fit of rage came to an end on March 12. Family members of the beautiful officer are aggrieved and yet to come to terms with the news of her death.

The gallant officer who hailed from Ijebu Ode in Ogun state was laid to rest at the Air force cemetery on March 23, amidst tears. A 21-gun salute was given in honor of the fallen officer.

Oladipupo and her lover, Kalu, were said to have met on a parade ground at the Air Force base in Makurdi, Benue state. The duo had been romantically entwined and had decided to give love a chance. Kalu had accused late Oladipupo of having affairs with other men and had taken the laws into his hands on that note.

The family members of the deceased went to the Air force base in Lagos to receive her corpse after it was brought it. She was identified before the final burial rites started. The coffin was opened before interment for her family members and friends before she was laid to rest.

Jolaade Oladipupo, the elder sister of the late officer revealed that the family had to wait for a while before the corpse was brought in.

The pretty Air force officer was the eight child of the eleven children born to the family. Her sister revealed that she lived with her at their family house at Badagry before joining the force.

After the corpse arrived around 9am, five of us were asked to step forward to identify her. She was dressed in the air force ceremonial uniform. We were in tears and I felt like asking her to wake up and follow us home. The military authorities asked us if she was the one, and we said yes.

“Then she was put into a hearse and we went to the Ojo Cantonment, where they also had a parade and a 21-gun salute. It was an emotional moment for the family.

The bereaved sister of the late officer also revealed that Solape Oladipupo had always wanted to join the force. She had tried several times without being picked before she was finally shortlisted.

Some family members of the deceased paying the last respect to her.

She had always wanted to join the force. She was a strong girl and always fought for people’s rights. Before she joined the air force, she had applied to join the police, the army and navy,without any success. She didn’t give up until her application to the air force succeeded.

“On the night that she was killed, we had earlier spoke and I advised her to further her studies in order to get accelerated promotion in the air force. She told me that she had told her boyfriend that she didn’t have time for any relationship and that she wanted to concentrate on her studies. She said she planned to buy the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination form. That was the night that the man killed her.

The 31-year-old sister of the late officer said only justice can ease the pain of the family members.

The Air force authorities are looking into the matter. Kalu has been arrested and detained at the base. It was gathered that a psychiatric test has been conducted on him as required before his prosecution and dismissal from the force.
