An 87-year-old Zambian freedom fighter and former Minister has reportedly paid dowry, locally known as lobola, in preparation for marriage to a woman half his age.
According to the Zambian Observer, the elderly former Minister, Sikota Wina, sent emissaries from his family to the bride-to-be's family on Friday to finalize the traditional lobola payment.
Reports indicate the woman is 40-year-old Elizabeth Chalikosa, who is the daughter of a former Zambian politician and diplomat.
Sikota Wina's wife, Princess Nakatindi Wina, passed away in 2012 while undergoing treatment for a heart-related condition in South Africa.
Sikota Wina is a renowned freedom fighter in Zambia who served in several administrations as Minister. He retired from politics recently.
