A corps member serving in Rivers state, Okoroha Kingsley Chino, has inspired us with a beautiful personal story he shared on his Instagram page.
NAIJ.com gathered from his Instagram page that he rewarded the best graduating student at his place of primary assignment with a brand new laptop. According to Kingsley, he intentionally took the noble step of appreciating the young boy because he has noticed that we are in a society where the winner of a Mathematics competition gets intangible gifts while a young lad who knows how to dance well is rewarded with huge sum of money and a car.
He posted the picture above with the caption:
"Meet Okoro izuchukwu gospel, the eventual winner of the laptop i had previously donated to be given to the best graduating ss3 student of GSSS Elekahia. He hails from Imo state Nigeria and aspires to become a lawyer. He was moved to tears as he never expected such prize for his diligence and hardwork. In a society where talentless people are celebrated, profanity is rewarded, nudi*y lauded, in a society where the winner of a math olympiad gets a mathset and some notebooks while a teenager skilled in the act of "Azontry" and "shokitude" gets a car as a reward, This gesture of mine was aimed at recognizing and giving honour to whom it is actually due... The hardworking ones with a zeal for academic excellence."
Aside from this, Kingsley, who is the president of adult and mass literacy cds group phalga, Rivers state also used his capacity as the president of the group to also donate 60 plastic chairs, pay the WAEC fees of 2 hardworking but relatively less privileged students, among others.
