Historians have long been split over what Jesus actually looked like, but the British historian believes the coin could help solve the mystery.

According to British biblical historian, Ralph Ellis, some tiny bronze coin, which reportedly dates from the 1st century AD, is the only lifelike image ever made of Christ.

Until now, the 24mm-wide coin was believed to depict the face of King Manu, ruler of the Mesopotamian kingdom of Edessa, currently known as southeastern Turkey.

But after nearly 30 years of research, historian Ellis has come out to claim that Manu and Christ were in fact one and the same person.

Biblical historian Ralph Ellis said his conclusion is controversial, describing it as 'one of the most important discoveries in modern history.

He claims that his finding, though controversial, is perhaps the most important discoveries in modern history and as far as the search for the real Jesus Christ's look alike goes.

The historian has reportedly studied the lives of both king Manu and Jesus Christ and cross-referenced all recorded and anecdotal evidence. And he has come to the conclusion that the two have striking similarities between them that cannot be simply a coincidence.

He is convinced "beyond reasonable doubt" that the same man was posthumously referred to by two names, that is, "King Izas Manu", and "(King) Jesus Emmanuel".

His argument basically implies that King Manu was the true Jesus Christ, and therefore the image of him on the coin is the real image of Christ. Case closed.
