Man kills self in Niger state due to economic hardship

A 26-year-old man, identified only as Okafor, has allegedly killed himself by hanging at Rock Avenue, Madalla area of Niger state.

Daily Trust reports that someone in the area, Abdullahi Shua’ibu, claimed that it was a farmer who saw the body hanging on a rope tied to a tree. The farmer alerted residents in the area who rushed out in their numbers to see the dangling remains of the deceased.

NAIJ.com gathered that the young ambitious man killed himself because he was tired of the Nigerian economic hardship in addition to how his life was going. According to Shua’ibu, the deceased left a su*cide note before he removed his shirt and hung himself, adding that a phone and a national identity card were found at the scene.

“From the content of the man’s su*cide note, he told his brothers to take care of his children and that he was tired of life,” he said.

The incident was later reported to the police at Madalla division and the body was removed and moved to Suleja General Hospital morgue afterwards.
