The Nigerian minister of technology, Ogbonnaya Onu, drives a Made in Nigeria wooden car named “Amara”.
You may recall that NAIJ.com informed you that the Minister promised to drive cars only manufactured in Nigeria. This might be a step towards fulfilling the promise made to Nigerians.
Onu was seen driving the wooden car on Monday, April 3, in Abuja at the annual ‘Technology and Innovation Expo’ #Techno2017.
The man who invented the wooden-body car, Ahmed Aliyu, drove the car to the Expo arena with the Minister. Aliyu started the construction of the car a year ago.
Aliyu said he drove the car (Amara) from Niger state to Abuja using only 23 liters of fuel. He expressed that the car used a motorcycle engine.
All other materials used in making of the car were sourced locally except the wheel, engine and tyres.
