A first-time Nigerian fiction novelist, Ayobami Adebayo, has been shortlisted for the 2017 UK Baileys Women’s Prize for her novel 'Stay With Me'.
The ‘Stay With Me’ author is listed amongst three British authors, an American and a Canadian author. Stay With Me is the story of marriage and motherhood.
Previous winners of the prize include Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Zadie Smith, Ali Smith and Lionel Shriver.
The Women’s Prize for fiction is awarded to female authors who have written one of the best novels of the year.
Baileys Women's Prize which has been running since 1996 was co-founded by author Kate Mosse who believes that female authors are often overlooked when it comes to major literary prizes.
