A fake fortune teller, 36, has been apprehended in Ondo state and charged to court for defrauding a man of N1.9 million in an uncompleted building.
The man, who was identified as, Omotunde Ademodi, was on Thursday, March 30, arraigned at the Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly pretending to be a fortune teller. The accused was charged on one count bordering on fraud.
NAIJ.com gathered that the police prosecutor, Inspector Zedekiah Orogbemi earlier told the court that Ademoji committed the crime on Wednesday, March 22. He further explained that the accused attempted to defraud one Emmanuel Nasiri of N1.9 million through fortune telling.
Orogbemi also said that the accused and two others carried out the crime in an uncompleted building in Ayeka, Okitipupa by acting under the pretence of being fortune tellers. However, Ademodi had no fixed address and no visible means of livelihood.
The accused, pleaded not guilty to the one count charge leveled against him. The Magistrate of the court, Banji Ayeomoni, granted the accused bail in the sum N50, 000 and a surety in like sum, adding that the surety must present one year tax clearance.
