- A couple of schoolboys spotted a little girl in distress
- She was hanging from her neck in a window grille, on a 2nd-floor apartment
- One of the boys is being hailed a hero, as he immediately went up to help the toddler
A boy in China heroically saved a three-year old girl who was clinging to her life after falling through a window grille, and getting stuck between the bars.
Two schoolboys, Zhang Kaihao and Peng Haoming, were playing on March 3 near the building, in Jiangxi City, when they spotted the toddler’s body hanging right beneath the window, with her head stuck.
They did not waste any time to go for her rescue. One of them climbed onto a ledge in order to reach her, and got into a position that allowed the girl to place her body on his shoulders. This way, the pressure on her neck lessened considerably while they all waited for firefighters to come.
When the public servants arrived, they immediately went to the apartment to haul up the toddler, while also securing a rope around the boy’s waist, just in case he slipped from the ledge. “He is a very smart kid, climbing two metres (6.6 ft) high to save the girl,” said, Zeng Tao, from the Yichun Firefighters Department.
Now the boy, who is around 11 to 12 years old, is being highly praised for his heroic act. He was caught on video while calmly helping the little girl, and after it was posted on Weibo, the Chinese social media outlet, thousands have been written comments of praise for him. “This is so warm! This is what a hero is, no matter how old or young he is,” one user said.
