An 18-year-old suspected thief, Emmanuel Alowonle, has been arrested after he was caught on camera picking unsuspecting victims’ pockets in Oshodi area of Lagos state.
Alowonle was arrested after the newly deployed mobile CCTV device procured by the Lagos state government for the operatives of the RRS captured him while he was committing the crime.
The suspect, who is a native of Ondo state, was stealing from a commuter’s handbag on the pedestrian walkway when the CCTV patrolling Oshodi captured him.
NAIJ.com findings show that the CCTV device is jointly managed by both the RRS operatives and the Lagos State Response Unit (LRU).
The LRU is in charge of the technical management of the device while the RRS takes charge of the security aspect.
Olarinde Famous Cole, the police public relations officer, while confirming the incident, assured Lagosians that there would be no hiding place for those who perpetrate crime.
Alowonle has now been charged and handed over to the security task force for investigation.
