- An expectant mother was at a zoo when her water broke
- She was expecting her baby in mid-May
- She delivered in the middle of the zoo
24-year-old Kymica Hubbard was only expecting her baby in mid-May and therefore felt free to go to the zoo in Nebraska, US on Sunday, April 23.
However, she was surprised when her water broke while on a zoo train with her husband Justin and their two children.
She alerted Justin and within a matter of minutes, she delivered her baby daughter at the Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium before getting to the hospital.
Kymica described the experience in an interview: “I was having contractions and it was getting closer and closer together and I was telling my husband, ‘OK, it’s time to get off the (zoo) train and let’s go to the emergency room,’ but he kept telling me I’m over-exaggerating.”
A proud Justin said he was pleasantly surprised by how quickly it all happened, adding that it was a blessed experience.
Justin, 27, said: “She was crying. You know, cooing. And it was just the most beautiful thing that a man can ever see. I mean, it was a truly blessed experience. It was a crazy experience. I mean, I wouldn’t trade it for the world.”
The couple named their baby daughter Drea Hubbard and said they will be returning to the zoo every year on the occasion of her birthday.
