A male gang leader in Honduras tried to escape from jail while dressed as a woman.
55-year-old Francisco Herrera Argueta, wore a skirt, blonde wig, and nail polish as he pretended to be a female visitor leaving the jail in San Pedro on Sunday, May 7.
Francisco was trying to use an identity card belonging to Jacinta Elvira Araujo, a visitor who had earlier left it with security guards.
NAIJ.com gathered that a prison guards noticed that he was walking in an unusual way and that his voice sounded manly.
The prison's spokesman said suspicious guards asked Francisco to remove his sunglasses for proper identification, adding: "The makeup couldn't hide the fact that he was a man."
Francisco, who has been incarcerated since September 2015 on murder and possession of firearms charges, now faces transfer to the notorious El Pozo jail, considered Honduras' most dangerous facility.
It is unclear what action has been taken against Jacinta, the woman who left her identity card for Francisco to use.
