- 8-year-old boy has committed suicide after he was attacked in school
- The boy was left unconscious after bullies at his elementary school assaulted him in the bathroom
A little boy has committed suicide after he was attacked and left unconscious by some bullies at his elementary school.
The 8-year-old boy, Gabe Taye, was attacked on January 24, after he went into a bathroom at his school, Carson Elementary School.
Taye tried to help a student who was being bullied in the bathroom by a group of students.
According to reports, the Cincinnati Public School system plans to release surveillance video showing students at Taye's elementary school assaulting him. Cincinnati reports that Taye was shoved into a wall and he became unconscious for 7 minutes.
The other students who were gathered around stepped over him and kicked him after he was knocked to the ground.
After the incident, a school official called the victim’s mother, Cornelia Reynolds, and lied to her that her son fainted.
When Reynolds picked up her son from school and took him to the hospital, he complained of stomach hurt and vomited. Two days after the tragic assault, Taye hung himself from his bunk and died.
Here is what the victim’s family lawyer, Jennifer Branch, had to say about the incident:
"A boy is in the bathroom punching and threatening and assaulting other children, and the son of my client walks in. (Gabe) actually attempts to shake this assailant's hand, and this assailant pulls him forward and slams him into the wall and he is knocked unconscious for seven-and-a-half minutes.”
"If the school had told her what had happened to him in the bathroom, that he was unconscious for such a long period of time, she would have taken him to the hospital immediately, reported that to the medical professionals, and she would have called police.”
“Though the connection between this incident at school and Gabriel's suicide are not clear, the district shared this video with police investigators at the time of the incident. Their investigation has concluded and no charges were filed.”
This is so sad…Rest in peace!
