The former First Lady of Nigeria, Dame Patience Jonathan, looks stunning has she attends the Rivers state Women’s Day golden jubilee celebration.
At the celebration held on Thursday, May 11, the former First Lady lauded Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for his efforts in empowering Rivers state women.
She expressed that Rivers women would continue to be grateful to the governor for giving them professional and political leverage.
Mrs Jonathan said that Wike’s decision to appoint a female deputy governor and chief judge paved the way for Rivers women to take pride in politics.
During the ceremony, Wike advised women to struggle for power rather that expect it to be given to them by men.
He said:"When it comes to power, you have to struggle for it. If you are prepared for politics, you must equipment yourself."
Wike announced that his administration will create a women development centre to empower women.
Wife of the Rivers state governor, Justice Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike, who described her husband as a man who uplifts women said the Women’s Day is set aside to honour women for their contributions to the growth of the state.
