- A giant 15-meter mysterious sea creature as washed up ashore in Indonesia
- Locals could not immediately identify it
- It is believed the creature has been dead for at least three days
Incredible pictures have surfaced online showing a giant 15-meter-long mysterious creature on a remote Indonesian beach.
According to local reports, the carcass washed up on the northern shore of Seram Island in Maluku province.
A local resident, 37-year-old Asrul Tuanakota, is said to have discovered it on the night of Tuesday, May 9.
Tuanakota said in an interview that he initially thought the creature was a boat that might have got stranded along the shore.
The bloated mass, which measured several meters wide, appeared to be rotting and was emitting a red liquid substance that contaminated the sea water.
The bewildered locals believe the decaying carcass may have been a giant squid or a whale.
A similarly large carcass was found in the Philippines earlier this year. It was eventually identified as a whale whose decay had distorted its appearance.
The locals have appealed to the government to help remove the creature. Watch it in the video below.
