- Woman who dreamt of owning a home one day finally realises her dream
- The 87-year-old has received her title deed and now legally owns a property
- She was among 2,000 others who were issued with the crucial document
- Considering her age, she says she is now ready to die peacefully
Maria Sibanda, who comes from Cape Town, has finally been issued with a document that legally makes her a home owner. Though she had acquired the land about a year back, she was not considered its legal owner until recently.
She was among the 2,000 people that were given their title deeds by Muzi Ntuli, a Johannesburg Councillor and Paul Mashatile, Gauteng Human Settlements MEC.
The old woman said: “It never occurred to me that one day I will actually become a homeowner. But it has happened. Now even if the Lord takes me I wouldn't mind."
It’s been years of waiting for Maria Sibanda. At 87 years old, one could argue there is nothing much left for her to enjoy in this life except her dream.
For those who have dreams, Sibanda’s case simply proves that it’s never too late.
