A proud US mother has paid loving tribute to her daughter who has a rare blood disease.
The mother, Denise Taylor, shared her daughter Keira's incredible story on Because of Them We Can's Facebook page.
She began by saying: "Keira is a jewel. Her banner and Snap Chat filter read the words: 'beyond the bruises.'"
She said in addition to the blood disease, Keira suffered an accident last year that left her skull cracked.
Despite all these health challenges, Denise said Keira has a contagious smile and thrives.
She shared a picture of Keira overcome by emotion by the fact that she was attending senior prom and that she will soon be graduating from high school.
She concluded: "I imagine her tears were of gratitude. I love this girl. That's my baby, she really is my first born."
