"It's part of the menace of Almajiri system. Maybe the boy finds it difficult to adapt to the system and wanted to run away so he was chained when they caught him."

Writer Hussain Obaro once spoke out negatively about the Almajiri system saying that it has deviated from its original purpose. He said: "It has created a cover for criminally minded individuals to abuse the Nigerian child, trafficking in innocent minors and exposing them to anti-social behaviours, and to be used as s*x slaves."
