It was a sad atmosphere for Shedrack and Mercy Audu when they lost their twin babies in a fatal accident.
The Sun reports that the Nasarawa state- born couple had been looking for the fruit of the womb for over 17 years before they were later blessed with the two bundles of joy on November 7, 2016.
Baby Joseph and Philomena instantly dried off the tears of the couple. The happy couple decided to go to Makurdi, Benue state, on the invitation of a family friend, Fidelis Mbaka, to show him their bundles of joy.
Not knowing the disaster that was about to befall them, they set out on Monday, April 17, at about 10.30am aboard a commuter vehicle which took off from the Lafia motor park en-route Makurdi.
The accident happened few kilometres to the couple's destination.
A vehicle loaded with yam coming from the opposite direction rammed into their vehicle while trying to dodge a pothole. Seven persons died on the spot including the 5-month old twin babies and the driver.

The couple, who were the only survivors of the fatal crash, were rushed to the General Hospital, Daudu, where they were revived and placed on intensive care for one week, before being transferred to the Dalhatu Specialist Hospital, Lafia, Nasarawa state capital. They were recently certified fit and discharged.
“My brother, life is worthless and meaningless to me now; I have surrendered my life to God. I am 50 years old while my wife is 42; we have allowed God to do His wish”, says Shedrack, as he told the story of his battle with childlessness before a breakthrough, and how it is short-lived.
