Young smoked fish seller says she is proud of what she does (photos)

You may recall that NAIJ.com had recently shared the story of a young beautiful lady identified as Monica Tanee who sells smoked fish for a living.

Tanee who was all over the media a few weeks ago has shared the story of how she started her business and the hardship she faces while trying to make a living.

In an interview with Women of Rubies, the young entrepreneur stated that she started the business while she was serving in Ondo state.

She explained that there were times she wanted to give up due to low patronage but she was advised not to do so by her business partner Yinyegha Tiki (Tikifish) who provides the firewood oven for the business.

Tanee said: “I started my catfish business during my NYSC year, at 32 Artillery Brigade Barack Akure, Ondo state where I did my first primary assignment. I studied how to trained fish, I train some batches of catfish with a fellow youth corp member before my passing out. We harvested and took the fresh catfish to (TikiFish) for his unique processing method, which is not common in Rivers state. It guarantees sand and smoke-free, tasty smoked fish. So I decided to partner with him.”

“The high rate of waybill from Ondo state and poor rate of customers not paying their debt at an agreed date. There are also series of harassment from male customers.”

Tanee started her business while she was serving in Ondo state

The chemical engineering graduate stated that her childhood influenced her desire to become a smoked fish seller because her parents were involved in buying and selling.

During the interview, Tanee stated that her biggest inspiration is her father who passed away last month. She said: “My dad didn’t have any formal education but he gave me my first degree, I will do all I can to make sure I don’t disappoint him.”

Tanee added: “He is my role model in life and I believe by the grace of God I can do better through Christ

The young entrepreneur also advised women who are trying to start their own businesses to be self-determined and prayerful.
