'Oyinbo man' gives 20 cows to in-laws as bride price (photos)

 

On Tuesday, August 30, former United States (US) ambassador to Kenya, Michael Ranneberger in a private ceremony held at Ololchani village, Narok County, gave his in-laws 20 cows as dowry for his Kenyan wife, Ruth Konchellah.

Rannebeger and Konchellah met 10-years-ago, during his visit to Enoosaen area of the country, after the post-election violence. Ranneberger said payment of the dowry was "the crowning of their 10-year relationship"

However, Konchella appreciated her husband for been able to adhere to her culture saying: “This is a very special day in my life since I do not know what to say but I am grateful that my husband has seen the need to comply with this very important custom to the members of the Maasai community and all Africans.”
