It was joy all the way at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium Enugu on Sunday, October 2, as Rangers FC broke their 32-year-old jinx to win the NPFL title.
Governor of the state Ifeanyi Uguwani who was present at the stadium in their final match where the team thrashed El-Kanemi Warriors 4 - 0, danced all the way as the home team lifted the trophy once again.
Rangers have won the cup in 1974, 1975, 1977, 1981, 1982, 1984 and 2016 equaling a record set by Enyimba FC by winning it for the seventh time.
It was disclosed that the governor had supported the team all the way since he assumed office in 2015 and this has yielded positive results for the Enugu-based team.
Rangers are champions the 2015/2016 season with 63 points, Rivers United with 60, while Wikki Tourists are third with 57.
